Grade 10 (English 2)

  • Finish reading Act 1, Scene 3 of Macbeth and be prepared for a quiz on Act 1, Scenes 1-3 (I will answer any questions you have about what you read before the quiz).
  • Please email AT LEAST HALF of your uncompleted Cultural and Traveling Personal Narrative (you should have at least one page- double-spaced, Times New Roman 13 point font- completed) that is due this Thursday, April 18th.
  • If you haven’t already, please send me the COMPLETE CHART comparing your home country with AT LEAST ONE OTHER COUNTRY to which you have traveled and/or lived.  You can access the chart and assignment guidelines here: Assignment Guidelines- Cultural and Traveling Personal Narrative.
  • Please email me the chart, along with the half-completed (at least) narrative, in the SAME EMAIL, by 9 pm tonight to my First Class email: amy . lingenfelter @ ciplc . org.
  • DON’T FORGET TO ALSO COMPLETE AND HAND IN YOUR FILL IN THE BLANKS WORKSHEET FOR WORDLY WISE CHAPTER 5 THAT I GAVE YOU LAST CLASS!
  • Study for your Worldy Wise quiz on all vocabulary words from Chapter 5.  This will be multiple choice only.  The quiz will take place the next time we have class together (hopefully on April 18th).
  • Hopefully I will see you tomorrow!
  • Complete Worldy Wise 5C-5E on a separate sheet of paper.

  • Write your paragraph based on the themes of Poe’s “Pit and the Pendulum” that we covered in class.  MAKE SURE TO REFERENCE THE TEXT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
  • Make sure your “The Giver” Sequel video is complete and ready to  be shown to the class and saved on my computer.
  • Based on the movie version you watched of “Pit and the Pendulum,” answer the following questions on a separate sheet of paper.  You will NOT be graded for mechanics, only content:
      1. What did you like about the scenes you saw?  What did you dislike?  Explain why or why not and provide concrete examples.
      2. How do these scenes compare to the original story you read?  What is similar and what is different?
      3. Generate 5 questions you have about the story “Pit and the Pendulum,” anything that comes to your mind that you didn’t understand and need clarification about.
      4.   Generate 2 things you liked and 2 things you disliked about story.
  • Generate at least 3 major themes from the story that could relate to writing topics about a future paragraph.  BE READY TO WRITE THIS PARAGRAPH WITHIN A 40-MINUTE PERIOD DURING NEXT CLASS.
