Grade 9 (English 1)

  • Complete Worldy Wise Chapter 6 Activities #6A-6E (all).  I will be checking for accuracy so make sure you do a good job.
  • Due to pushing back the due date more than once,  I am expecting videos worthy of the Academy Awards!! (Well, close enough) 🙂
  • Complete the fill in the blanks worksheet on vocab from Worldy Wise Chapter 5.
  • Study for your Worldy Wise quiz on all vocabulary words from Chapter 5.  FOCUS ON STUDYING THE DEFINITIONS.  This will be multiple choice only.
  • None- VANAS!
  • Please note: There will be a multiple choice quiz on Worldy Wise Chapter 5 words next Tuesday, April 9th.
  • Complete your 10 sentences about the stories we’ve read so far this year AND/OR your Semana Santa vacation including:
    • 5 sentences with dependent clauses/extra info + an independent clause
    • 5 sentences with 2 independent clauses + a comma + a conjunction.  You can also substitute the conjunction with a semicolon if you wish.
    • Remember: THESE SENTENCES MUST BE WRITTEN FOLLOWING THE SAME REQUIREMENTS AS YOUR STRUCTURED PARAGRAPHS.

  • Complete Wordly Wise Chapter 5 Activities 5A-5E on a separate sheet of paper.
  • UPDATE: For the 3 days off, you will be working with Worldy Wise words, but if you did not bring your Worldy Wise book home, here you can access the words from Chapter 5: Wordly Wise Book 9 Chapter 5 Flashcards.
  • Read the following document of quotes and choose a quote you like best: Great Quotations.  It can NOT be one that we’ve done in class before.
  • Using at least 6 of the WW words from Chapter 5, write a strong paragraph relating to the quote you chose using the usual techniques.  You will be graded for 1) the usual mechanics, 2) correct usage of the words and 3) for thorough and convincing analysis of the quote.  This assignment should be typed, because you must email it to me BEFORE Tuesday morning.
  • You do NOT have to reference a text unless you feel it would help support your argument.
