Final Exam Guidelines
The semester final exam will be composed of:
- One essay: involving reading response, plot analysis and evaluation, character analysis, comparison/contrast, critique, theme, allegory/social commentary, and/or interpretation of the novel- there will be 2 options/topics to choose from.
- This will be graded according to content
- One paragraph: descriptive writing involving interpretation of a quote with figurative language- there will be 3 options/topics to choose from.
- This will be graded according to form (structure, organization, mechanics, etc.)
Please make sure you study:
- The novel “The Giver” in depth
- Your literary elements that we covered in class- you will be asked to provide specific examples in your essay and/or paragraph of certain elements as they apply to what you’ve read (click here to access the document: Literary Elements & Techniques- In Alpha Order- With Examples). - All the vocabulary words you’ve learned so far this year including that from Worldly Wise. You will need to use them in your essays and/or paragraphs (click here to access the comprehensive list: The Giver- Vocab List with Definitions- Chapters 1-16 )
