- MUST BE TYPED and PRINTED, Times New Roman Ront, point 13. Please TYPE into the “Independent Reading Assignment” document above directly, for each section.
- This entire project will be worth 10% of your final grade, and you will receive one grade out of 161 points.
- The Final Project (#4 on the assignment, of your choice) will be presented on the day of the exam.
- DUE DATES:
- Read your book by May 22-24.
- Complete the 3 Chapter Summaries by May 27-28.
- Complete the Vocab Assignment by May 29-30.
- Complete Literary Elements by May 31-June 3.
- Complete the Final Assignment by final exam date (June 4-6).
- Write a persuasive paragraph based on a theme from “The Sniper” using the characteristics of persuasive writing found in the following document: Characteristics of Persuasive Writing & Example Essay AND using at LEAST 5 preposition combinations correctly (please refer to the following documents for more information: Prepositions- Verb-Adjective Combinations and Prepositions- Time-Location Explanation).
- Please underline ALL prepositions in your paragraph.
- You will be graded based on the usual as well as whether your writing incorporates ALL components of persuasive writing.
- Finish the comprehension questions for “The Sniper” #1-8 if you haven’t already.
- Finish your paragraph, handwritten, on a separate sheet of paper, for “The Cask of Amontillado” based on the following topics/questions:
- What are the consequences of envy and/or hatred?
- Friendship is not always what it seems.
- Do you think years of emotional pain justify violent/vengeful acts?
- Is violence/murder ever justifiable? (Related to the previous topic)
- Generate 5 themes AND 5 paragraph topics for the Edgar Allan Poe story, ““The Cask of Amontillado.” The paragraph topics can be related to the themes, but they must be in question form.
- Just in case, for a review of / examples of themes, check the definition and examples in the following document: Literary Elements & Techniques- In Alpha Order- With Examples
- Study for WW Quiz on Chapter 6. We will spend 10 minutes of class time to review the words before the quiz.
- Finish reading “The Cask of Amontillado” pgs. 211-218 including the biography of Edgar Allan Poe.
- Complete “Reading Check” pg. 219 #1-5 on a separate sheet of paper.
- Complete your sentences for the WW words for Chapter 6 as a parternship if you haven’t already. Remember: BOTH names should be on the paper; therefore BOTH people will be responsible for this grade.
- The sentences will be graded as normal paragraphs: for mechanics, spelling, correct word usage, etc.
