• Complete Worldly Wise 3C-3E on a separate sheet of paper (be ready to turn in along with 2A and 2B)
• Complete your paragraph about parenting methods/teenage rebellion, etc.

• Complete WW 3A-3B on a separate sheet of paper.
  

• Finish reading “Tiger Mom: Is Tough Parenting Really the Answer?” and write a paragraph answering the following question: do you agree or disagree with the traditional Chinese parenting style as illustrated in “Tiger Mom?”  Why or why not?  Cite the article as much as possible in your explanation.  This paragraph will be collected and graded for content, not mechanics.
  

• Complete WW Chapter 2E on a separate sheet of paper
• Study for the Worldly Wise quiz on the words from Chapter 2

• Work on your sequel that will be due on Friday, January 11th, NO EXCEPTIONS. (If I were you, I would plan my time accordingly so that I am not waiting until the last minute).
• Throughout the next two weeks after January 11th, you will work with your group members at home and in class to develop your script and create the video.  The group members are as following:
  • Group 1: Maria Luisa, Maria Jose, Jesus, and Misael
  • Group 2: Veronica, Luciania, Marcelo, Pablo
  • Group 3: Andrea R., Arturo, Thomas, Andrea S., Luis

Final Exam Guidelines

The semester final exam will be composed of:

1. One essay: involving reading response, plot analysis and evaluation, character analysis, comparison/contrast, critique, theme, allegory/social commentary, and/or interpretation of the novel- there will be 2 options/topics to choose from.
   • This will be graded according to content
2. One paragraph: descriptive writing involving interpretation of a quote with figurative language- there will be 3 options/topics to choose from.
   • This will be graded according to form (structure, organization, mechanics, etc.)

Please make sure you study:

• The novel “The Giver” in depth
• Your literary elements that we covered in class- you will be asked to provide specific examples in your essay and/or paragraph of certain elements as they apply to what you’ve read (click here to access the document: Literary Elements & Techniques- In Alpha Order- With Examples).  The document with examples based of what we’ve read so far this  year can be accessed here: Literary Elements & Techniques- In Alpha Order- With Examples- Up to 12-10-12
• All the vocabulary words you’ve learned so far this year including that from Worldly Wise.  You will need to use them in your essays and/or paragraphs (click here to access the comprehensive list: The Giver- Vocab List with Definitions- Chapters 1-16 )

• Finish reading the entire “The Giver” book: Chapters 22-23, and be prepared for a quiz on any or ALL chapters from 17-23.
